Common questions about Velocify

What scenarios can Velocify be used for?

Velocify supports multiple usage scenarios, including:

  • 🚗 Vehicle speed measurement (HUD mode)
  • 🚴‍♀️ Bicycle ride tracking
  • 🏃 Running/hiking current speed recording
  • 🛵 Electric scooter or motorcycle speed measurement

How does Velocify work? Does it require internet connection?

Velocify uses the device's built-in GPS chip for real-time speed measurement and works without an internet connection. Only initial startup may require brief internet access for permission initialization.

What is HUD mode? Is it visible at night?

HUD (Head-Up Display) mode projects speed onto the windshield. It works best at night - place your phone flat on the dashboard and enable HUD mode.

What speed units does Velocify support?

Velocify supports three unit options:

  • km/h (kilometers per hour)
  • mph (miles per hour)
  • m/s (meters per second)

Users can switch units based on their region.

Does Velocify record travel data?

The full app version supports complete speed recording, travel routes, average speed, and maximum speed saving. The current web demo only shows real-time session data.

Can I use Velocify offline?

Yes. Velocify uses the device's local GPS for speed measurement and doesn't rely on internet. Please ensure location permissions are granted on first launch.

How to improve speed measurement accuracy?

For more accurate speed measurement, we recommend:

  • Use outdoors or in unobstructed environments
  • Wait for GPS positioning to complete (usually takes a few seconds)
  • Enable "High Accuracy Location" mode (may require system settings adjustment)

Is Velocify battery intensive?

Velocify is designed to be lightweight and battery-friendly. However, continuous GPS usage for speed measurement will consume some battery power. We recommend using it with a charging device for extended periods.

Does Velocify support background speed measurement?

The full app version supports continuous background operation, lock screen display, and other advanced features. Web version or system limitations may affect background functionality.

Why is my speed showing as 0?

Please check the following:

  • Has the app been granted location permissions?
  • Does your device support GPS functionality?
  • Is the device stationary? (0 speed is normal when stationary)

If speed remains 0 while moving, try restarting the app or checking GPS accuracy.
